The Lens: Double-edged sword of censorship in Malaysia

We have two pairs of tickets to the internationally acclaimed show, War Horse, to give away!

Based on Michael Morpurgo's heartwarming novel of the same name, the show is about the relationship between a young boy, Albert, and his horse, Joey. Set against the backdrop of the first world war, Albert and Joey's relationship is tested through a series of events, taking them on an unforgettable, and extraordinary journey.

As well as a heart-rending story, the show features life-sized animal puppets whose realistic movements will astonish you.

The award-winning production is making its debut in Hong Kong, and our two lucky winners will each score a pair of tickets to the Thursday, May 16 show (each valued at HK$795).

How to enter:

1. Write a review of either a film or a book about a meaningful relationship between a pet and its owner.

That's it! Email your entry to [email protected] as an attachment with your full name (as printed on your HKID), your age, school name, and phone number.

And don't worry: we're not looking for the best writer. We are, however, looking for the most creative and interesting write-up.

The deadline for entries is noon on Monday, May 13, and the two winners will be notified by email.

Good luck!

Terms and conditions:

  • The competition closes at noon on Monday, May 13.

  • The contest is only open to secondary school students in Hong Kong.

  • The competition is not open to South China Morning Post staff or their families.

  • South China Morning Post Publishers Ltd. ("SCMPP") reserves the final right of decision on all matters relating to this offer.
