September is the start of a new academic year. On the first day of this month, thousands of students returned to school, with the summer holiday behind them. No matter how exciting and enjoyable the holiday was, it's time to resume your studies.

As an engineer, September is no different to any other month, as I don't have a summer holiday. If you consider the summer holiday important, you'd better enjoy it while it lasts. Once you have a full-time job, unless you work in education, you'll never have such a long break again.

But this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Learning brings its own reward, and in a field like engineering, you are always learning. In that sense, picking up new skills isn't just for students - it is a process which continues for our entire life. So enjoy it, and remember that learning never takes a summer holiday.
