Young Post scored tickets for Katy Perry's May 2 show at the Venetian Macau. In keeping with the pop powerhouse's colourful personality, we held an art scavenger hunt on Instagram to promote all the art that is actually in Hong Kong. The winner of the competition will receive three tickets plus round-trip ferry tickets.
We received a wide range of entries, and after some intense debates among the judges, we were finally able to choose a winner. Sadly there could only be one winner, but we still want to celebrate, in no particular order, the efforts of some of the other entrants.
Our first honourable mention goes to @covetjewels who found art from far and wide in Hong Kong!
"Remembering Coral Reef" by Liu Hua-Quiang, 2011. In Sai Kung. This sculpture is chunky yet looks peaceful because it represents the coral reef through its texture and colour. And it is a calming reminder of the Great Barrier Reef in my home country. #YPWhatIsArt @youngposthk. This is our entry for clue no.1 for the Katy Perry Macau concert competition. (using Mother's Instagram account because the entrant does not have their own yet).
"Flying Sofye", Lam Pei, 2009 & 2014. Seen in Central. Even though they stand together they are very separate and look lonely. They are taking up their own space without relation to the other. This loneliness is further supported by the different years of creation and their masks. #YPWhatIsArt @youngposthk. This is our entry for clue no.3 in the Katy Perry Macau concert competition. (using Mother's Instagram account because the entrant does not have their own yet).
"Extension 3" by Emily Lee, 2013. Seen in Central. When you first look at this work of art all you think you see is a painting of pointe ballet shoes and a pile lying on the floor below. As you approach you see some of the shoes on the canvas are real and attached and three dimensional and some are painted and two dimensional. And the pile of pointe ballet slippers on the floor are used and new. With both representing past, present and future. #YPWhatIsArt @youngposthk This is our entry for clue no.4 for the Katy Perry Macau concert competition (using Mother's Instagram account because the entrant does not have their own yet).
