The ultramarathon passes through some beautiful landscapes in the Tarawera region.

My favourite sports star is my mother, and her most amazing sporting moment is when she completed her first 100 mile (162km) race in February 2019 at the Tarawera 100 mile Endurance Run in New Zealand.  She was first in her age group, and sixth overall woman.  Out of only 97 runners to make it to the finish line, she was 43rd.

It is so special to me because she is an amazing mother to five kids.  She also runs her own business, and trains for ultramarathons.  She has raced in over 50 ultramarathons with many podium finishes.  She can run faster than most of her running friends who are much younger than she is!!

It is so special because I know that there are few people who can do what she does, even myself.
