Spoil Your Folks! Cheung Kwan-pui's entry for the Young Post buffet dinner competition

We asked our readers to write about what their perfect date with their parents or guardians would look like for their chance to win a buffet dinner at a five-star-hotel. Here is one of the entries, which has not been edited

I would watch TV the whole day if I could spend a day with my parents.

I came to Hong Kong two and a half years ago from Mainland China.  I followed my mother here and said goodbye to my father and sister in Shenzhen.  These days, I only go back to Shenzhen twice a year. However, even when I go back, I still may not be able to see my father because my father needs to work.  He can seldom spend time with me.

When I was young, my parents and I always watched TV together.  We liked staying in our house in Shenzhen - the place which I spent 14 years in.  We laughed together when watching comedies and might sometimes got upset when we watched sad scenes.  Everything changed when I was in S.3 - the year that I followed my mom to Hong Kong. From that time onwards, I can't watch TV with the whole family anymore.

Watching TV the whole day may not sound interesting, but it does bring back fond memories of me being with my family in our whole house where I call 'home', laughing and chatting together.  That's the activity I enjoy doing most and would love to do it most now.
