Having been an avid tennis fan and tennis player for over half my life, I have had a myriad and variety of tennis players be idols of mine, including the Williams sisters, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. However, as of recent, my major source of inspiration and my favourite sports star has been Chung Hyeon, the South Korean rising star of the competitive tennis scene. Similar to myself, Chung Hyeon has played tennis ever since he was a young kid and also looked up to Novak Djokovic as his own source of inspiration. He wanted to play tennis to prove that not only is he a skilled player but a player of determination and grace. After intensive and heavy training, Chung entered the competitive tennis scene, and at a comparably young age, managed to work his way through to the fourth round matches of the Australian Open, to which Djokovic was his opponent. I would imagine having your own idol be in front of you as an opponent you need to face to further in a competition to be hard. However, despite Chung probably feeling starstruck and nervous, he pushed himself and prevailed, defeating Djokovic with grace and technique. Not only is he now the "talk of the tongue" amongst all up-and-coming tennis players, he is a major source of motivation and an inspiration to all youth athletes. I would now look to Chung as a motivation and channel his determination whenever I have to face a challenging obstacle or need to push myself further. This is why I idolize Chung Hyeon and why he is my favourite sports star.
