We asked our readers to write an essay titled "My Day out with Shawn Mendes". Here is one of the entries. It has not been edited.

If I could spend a day in Hong Kong with Shawn Mendes, I would take him on a tour around Hong Kong, and show him some of the attractions that define this city.

First up, a mini food tour. We’d grab some egg tarts and stop by Lee Keung Kee in North Point to taste this egg waffle hotspot’s signature food. We’d take the MTR to Chai Wan and hail a taxi to Dragon’s Back, Shek O. Dubbed the world’s best urban walk, this 8.5km-long hike would provide us with plenty of opportunities to snap some great Instagram-worthy photos. After hiking this part of the Hong Kong Trail, we’d finish at Shek O Village. A refreshing dip in the waters of Shek O Beach would be followed by a traditional lunch at the beachside village.

Next, I’d take Shawn on the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak. We’d enjoy the spectacular views from the Peak Tower. Then, we’d go on the scenic Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride to Ngong Ping. We’d climb all 268 steps and marvel at the majestic Tian Tan Buddha!

When we’d have finished admiring the large bronze Buddha statue, I would take Shawn on a trip around the fishing town of Tai O. We would go on a boat tour to see if we’d be lucky enough to spot a few Chinese white dolphins. We would admire the photographer’s paradise of interconnected stilt houses that form the tightly knit community of this unique village, also known as the “Venice of Hong Kong”.

In the evening we’d venture into Kowloon and have a delectable dinner of Japanese ramen at Yokozuna in Yau Ma Tei. Now, it wouldn’t be appropriate to spend a day in Hong Kong without attending one of the city’s bustling street bazaars! We would take a stroll around the Temple Street Night Market, and cast our eyes upon the arrays of tea ware, electronics, jade and antiques, and, of course, food!

Now that would certainly be a productive day, don’t you think?
