We asked our readers to write an essay titled "My Day out with Shawn Mendes". Here is one of the entries. It has not been edited.

First of all, can I just say – just the thought of spending a day out with one of my favourite pop singers is crazy! I’m excited just writing this, even if I know I’m just daydreaming here…

As a celebrity, Shawn would probably be staying at a fancy, expensive chain hotel with buffet breakfasts. Those are always tempting, but I want him to experience something truly HK – either at one of the citys’ delicious ‘cha chaan tengs' or dim sum is always good idea too. Finished with a glass of authentic HK milk tea - now that’s the best way to start the day!

I would choose to skip the luxury shopping, since he could do that anywhere else in the world. Instead, I would bring him to discover the little treasures buried in Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po and Jordan. After some bargaining, lunch would be served at one of the famous seafood restaurants around Temple Street. I hope he likes crab!

Hong Kong is known for its modern skyscrapers and busy atmosphere, but many people don’t know about its great outdoors. I live on Lantau, so I would definitely bring him to one of our beaches – possibly Cheung Sha, and also show him around Mui Wo too for something different and unique.

If there’s one touristy experience that can’t be missed, it’s a trip to the Peak of course. We would go around sunset, to see the city slowly illuminate and take in that million-dollar view while enjoying a nice, relaxing dinner. The day would end with a tram ride around the Causeway Bay and Wan Chai area, which I think is a good way to show him how lively Hong Kong streets become at night. It is after all, a city that never sleeps.

If we’re still hungry later, there’s always good old street food!
