ROYP: Wise words that uplift our readers in times of despair

Each week, we ask Young Post readers to share a little bit about themselves along with a quote that helps them get through life

Hi! My name is Vienna and I’m a 17-year-old high school student. My passions include theatre, film, culture, and fashion.

Most inspiring quote:

“The most important thing  is to enjoy your life – to be  happy – it’s all that matters.”

– Actress Audrey Hepburn

This quote encourages me to live life to  the fullest to achieve happiness, instead of holding onto things that will only stress me out. It makes me more optimistic and makes me want to find the bright side of every situation.

ROYP: The inspiring words that motivate our readers to achieve great things

My name is Chuki Barfungpa, and this year I will be 17. I am from Nepal, and my favourite food is fried chicken. I really enjoy spending time with my friends, learning about cosmetics, watching films and TV shows, and  listening to music.  In terms of cosmetics, while I tend to gravitate towards more Asian trends, I enjoy learning about and trying out all kinds of different make-up trends, from Western to runway make-up. I also enjoy watching documentaries about random topics, and my favourite subject at school is philosophy.

Most inspiring quote:

“Do not let anyone look down  on you because you are young.”

– 1 Timothy 4:12

As a Christian, this Bible verse really speaks  to me because I believe that a person’s capability should not be limited by their age.

ROYP: inspiring words that give our readers that little extra push they need

Hi there! I’m a 16-year-old Form Four student studying at Ying Wa College, with an unhealthy addiction to boba tea.  When I’m not obsessing over the wizarding world of Harry Potter, I can be found reading  and reviewing other books. I’m also an animal-lover – cats are my favourite animals.

Most inspiring quote:

“I like nonsense, it wakes up  the brain cells. Fantasy is a  necessary ingredient in living.”

– American author Dr Seuss

I chose this quote because it makes me want to think outside the box, and live my life  freely without needing to worry what other people think of me.

ROYP: From Brave New World to the Bible - inspiring words our readers take comfort in

Hello! I’m Kristy, I’m 16, and I’m a student at Singapore International School. I’ll be taking my IB soon, and I’m pretty nervous about that. However, I’m also super excited for my history class! As you can probably tell, I love history a lot. I’m also interested in languages, which is why I study French at school and take a Japanese class in my spare time. I’m super excited to work at Young Post and hope I’ll be able to contribute positively!

Most inspiring quote:

“Fortune favours the brave.”

– Roman author and philosopher Pliny the Elder

This proverb refers to the fact that courageous action is always rewarded. I’m a naturally shy and socially awkward person – I’m definitely more of an introvert than an extrovert. That’s why, when I’m floundering way out of my comfort zone, I try to remind myself to be brave, because positive things might come from my actions. If they don’t, well, then at least I’ve tried my best and done something I know I normally wouldn’t. Knowing that always boosts my self-confidence.
