If you could be any fantasy creature, what would you be?

If you could be any fantasy creature, what would you be?

Every Wednesday we ask our Brain Game contestants one interesting, thought-provoking or just plain quirky question. Their answers will be published anonymously in Young Post. Then readers can vote for their FAVOURITE answer. We will eliminate the contestant with the LEAST votes every week until we have a winner. The ultimate Brain Game winner will win an Apple Watch Nike+!

Votes close at midnight on Sunday.

The contestants

Contestant 1

An alicorn. I adore unicorns, but they have a flaw which stops me from being 100 per cent in love with them – they can’t fly! So if I crossed a unicorn with a pegasus, I’d end up with an alicorn (or a pegacorn). I would be able to do magical stuff using my horn, and also fly to all sorts of places.

Contestant 2

The legendary bird of fire – the phoenix. According to the Harry Potter series, phoenix tears can heal any wound. Its song brings courage to good people and strikes fear in the bad. It is born of fire so it can’t be harmed by it, and it is capable of carrying heavy loads. I would be able to fly, heal people, and save lives. Awesome!

Contestant 3

A silver dragon, like those in the Dragons & Dungeons universe. A silver dragon is the second strongest metallic dragon. I would be capable of doing way more than just flying – I would be able to change my shape, breathe out paralysing gas, control the weather, and so much more. I could use my dragon powers even when human-shaped – if I wanted to. After all, although silver dragons are kind, they only help when asked to. As a dragon, I’d also have the ability to communicate with other creatures. Wouldn’t it be cool to be a dragon?

Contestant 4

How about an angel? A unicorn? No. I would be a demon – one that punishes dishonest people who steal, lie, or take part in something they know is wrong. Imagine having the power to control anyone you like. I could do anything I wanted, with just a flick of my fingers. Boom! I’ve just turned someone into a mouse! I wouldn’t just be doing it for fun; I’d be punishing people so that they reflect on their actions, and (hopefully!) learn to become a more honest person in future.

Contestant 5

I’m a huge Pokémon fan, so I would definitely want to be a Pokémon. Pokémon can fly up into space, or dive into the deepest waters of the ocean. There’s this legendary Pokémon called Mew, which can transform itself into any Pokémon it wants. Pokémon are immortal, too, which is good – I’d have all the time in the world to try new and exciting food.

Contestant 6

If I could be any fantasy creature, I would be a fairy. I would have beautiful, butterfly-like wings and I would be really small and cute. I would sparkle all the time, and I would also be able to perform magic tricks. I would be able to grant wishes using my tiny little magic wand. I would never run out of friends, either, because all sorts of animals would want to be on my side.

Contestant 7

Definitely Fawkes, the phoenix from the Harry Potter series. Not only are they extremely loyal and majestic creatures, they also possess a range of special skills, such as being able to heal wounds with their tears. A phoenix can be reborn again and again. Best of all, phoenixes are immune to a basilisk’s gaze, which would normally kill anyone who has direct eye-to-eye contact with it. Beat that, Voldemort!

Contestant 8

I would love to be Doraemon. Then I would have any number of magic weapons that I could just pull out of my pocket. I would have the Anywhere Door that would take me to any place I wanted to go – for free. I would also have a teleporter that I could use to travel to any point in time. In addition, the What-If Phone Booth would help me experience any “what-if” scenario I could possibly think of.
