If you were to stay in a hotel with a celebrity for a week – with no sources of entertainment – who would you choose?

The contestants

Contestant 1

With no sources of entertainment, I would be bored in less than a minute. That’s why I would bring the one and only Akshay Kumar, a hugely talented Bollywood actor. A master chef and martial artist in his spare time, Kumar has been called the “Indian Jackie Chan” due to his ability to perform dangerous stunts. He has appeared in many Indian movies, be they romance, comedy, drama or action. He could show me his wide range of talents every day and I would just sit there and watch, absolutely mesmerised. I would simply lose track of time and the week would pass by in a blur. Kumar would also cook me amazing dishes and perhaps teach me a thing or two!

Contestant 2

William Shakespeare would be my source of entertainment! He would teach me how to interpret his masterpieces. It would also be great to get him to teach me how to write poems. How I wish I could just have 10 per cent of his literary genius!

Enjoying his masterpieces and getting his insight on my own work would be a marvellous way to pass the time. Although poetic thoughts need to be original and can’t really be transferred, I would still soak in a lot of information. I just hope Shakespeare would be willing to stay with me!

Contestant 3

Michelle Obama, because she’s a role model for every one of us. I wouldn’t need other sources of entertainment because she alone is fascinating enough. The former US first lady is full of fun and knowledge – there’s nothing we couldn’t try, as you’ll know if you’ve seen the video of her dancing with talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres! Apart from her positive attitude, she has an aura of elegance, not to mention a lot of experience from working in law firms. Most of all, I love how down-to-earth she is; she continues to raise awareness of important social issues and encourages us to live a healthy life. Michelle is a very strong and influential woman.

Contestant 4

Life would almost be too much if I ended up in a hotel room with Ellen DeGeneres. She is just too witty and awesome. I’d likely end up in the ER due to stomach pains from laughing so hard at her hilarious jokes and dance moves. Hang on ... Did you say there are no sources of entertainment in the room? How is that even possible? Ellen is the number one source of entertainment anyone could ever dream of.

Contestant 5

It would have to be online star Lele Pons, because she tells a lot of funny stories and we could do fun, daring things all the time. We would make YouTube videos and get up to all sorts of mischief, like prank calling people and surprising fans. I would create a schedule to keep us busy all week – including a plan to make Lele and her friend Juanpa fall in love. They are the OTP (one true pairing) and it’s been every fan’s goal to make #zuripons real. Just think of it: I’d be the amazing matchmaker who’d watch proudly at their inevitable wedding.

If Lele wants to do a stereotypical video on Asian parents, I’d jump at it. We could get someone to tell their mum about their dream of becoming an artist, but the mum would say “No. Society values jobs like doctors and lawyers. Go study law!” Then the kid would exclaim, “I got an A for art!”, but the dad would mutter, “Not good enough. Try harder. When I was your age, blah blah blah”. No offence, parents. We know how much you love us – just having a laugh.
