The overall champions at the Division One Inter-school Swimming Competition 2017-18 (Kowloon and Hong Kong Island) held at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool today were Diocesan Boys’ and Girls’ Schools
DGS claimed the girls overall title for an incredible 30th consecutive time with 533 points. Second and third places went to Heep Yunn School and Good Hope School, with 440 and 300.5 points, respectively.
DBS won the overall boys title with 471 points, followed closely by St. Joseph’s College with 451 points. La Salle College came in third with 381 points. This is DBS’s 25th consecutive overall title victory.
Several records were newly set including Marcus Mok Kai-tik from La Salle College, who defeated his schoolmate Michael Ng Yu-hin in the A-grade boys’ 200m breaststroke. Marcus won gold with a record-breaking time of 2:16.34, with Michael coming in second with a time of 2:18.55.
Marcus set another record and won gold in the A grade boys 100m backstroke with a time of 58.01.
Michael also won a gold medal in the the A grade boys 100m breaststroke with a new record of 1:05.07, followed closely by St. Joseph’s College’s Tang Ho-kwan with a time of 1:05.35.
Cheuk Ming-ho from DBS won gold and set a new record in the A-grade boys 200m freestyle with a time of 1:54.04.
Fong Ka-yu from Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School won gold and set a new record in the A grade boys 50m backstroke with a time of 29.57.
In the A grade girls 200m breaststroke, Cheung Wing-yan from DGS claimed the gold medal with a record-breaking time of 2:39.84.
