Diocesan Boys’ and Girls’ Schools were crowned overall champions at the Division One Inter-school Swimming Competition (Kowloon and Hong Kong Island) at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool today.
DBS won the overall title with 495 points, followed by La Salle College with 415 points. St Joseph’s College came in third with 383 points. This is DBS’s 24th consecutive overall title victory.
DGS claimed the girls’ overall title for the 29th consecutive time with 554 points. Second and third places went to Heep Yunn School and Good Hope School, with 475.5 and 283 points, respectively.
Several records were set today. Including Martin Lam Ho-yin, 17, from La Salle College who defeated his old adversary, Suen Wai-cheong, also 17, from Wah Yan College, Kowloon, in the A grade boys’ 50m freestyle. Martin won gold with the record-breaking time of 23.49, with Vincent coming in second this time with the new record of 23.67.
Martin set a second record and won gold in the A grade boys 100m freestyle with the time of 51.69.
Diocesan Girls’ School’s swimming team captain Toto Wong Kwan-to, 16, broke two of her previous records, in A grade girls 50m and 100m backstroke with times of 29.23 and 1:02.62 respectively.
