J-Asia sailing school had success last weekend as Marian Frances Ngo Williams, 16, claimed victory at the 2015 Hong Kong Laser Championships 4.7 division.

The Kiangsu Chekiang College (International Section) student battled it out against seven males and six females over the two-day sailing competition.

The 4.7 laser division featured competitors from four local sailing clubs: J-Asia, Aberdeen Boat Club, Hebe Haven Yacht Club and hosts Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC).

Wind conditions were difficult during the first day of sailing on Saturday, with winds ranging from 15 to 20 knots. Later, the winds changed direction, making it crucial to cross the finish line quickly.

But Marian breezed through, landing at the top of the leader board, followed by RHKYC sailors Emma Fung in second, and Enzo Cremers in third.

The second day of competition brought steadier winds - 12 to 15 knots - making for great racing conditions on Sunday. Marian continued her winning streak, earning the title of Women's Champion, and also Open Champion, over the mixed pool of competitors.

Over the weekend's races, Marian secured four first-place finishes, one second place, and one third place.

J-Asia's Preston Tso placed second, with RHKYC's Emma Fung and Enzo Cremers securing third and fourth, respectively, while Stephanie Norton of J-Asia rounded out the top five .
