DAMASCUS - Russia has sent 28 war planes to Syria, US officials have confirmed.

This is the latest move by Moscow, which is increasing its military force there, in a bid to halt attacks by Muslim extremists.

Recently, the United States has become more concerned over Russia's moves to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

The US warned that supporting his regime by sending military forces to fight jihadists is a risky move because it could ruin efforts to bring peace.

Experts expect this will lead to military action.
