The K-pop superstars found a fan in the South Korean first lady Kim Jung-sook.K-pop boyband BTS delivered a message to the world’s youth at the United Nations on Monday, telling them to listen to their inner voice and resist the pressure to conform.
“No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin colour, your gender identity, just speak yourself,” group leader Kim Nam-jun said at the event. The group were at the annual gathering of world leaders to help launch the Unicef youth campaign
“Generation Unlimited”, which will promote education, training and employment.
K-pop could be the best form of diplomacy
Kim Nam-jun, who also calls himself RM, spoke about overcoming his fears and insecurities as a teen, and urged other young people to do the same.
“I have many faults and I have many more fears, but I am going to embrace myself as hard as I can and I am starting to love myself,” he said.
One of the biggest boybands in the world, BTS made music history this year by becoming the first K-pop group to top the Billboard 200 music charts in the US.
