1 Puerto Rico is a Caribbean Island that belongs to the United States. It is a US territory, so it has different rights and rules than a US state has.

The gorgeous white sand filled Flamenco beach on the Puerto Rican island of Culebra.

2 It's a tourist paradise with warm, sunny beaches, diving, snorkelling, spelunking and  searching for pirate treasure among its main attractions. 

The capital is San Juan.

San Juan is famous for its blue cobblestone streets that give holidaymakers great photo ops.

4 It used to belong to the Spanish, who lost it in the Spanish-American war. So most people here speak Spanish.

Don't be surprised to catch a glimpse of Captain Sparrow. Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean, after all.

5 Ships bringing goods from Central and South America, Africa and Europe have to unload their goods in the United States. They are not allowed to stop in Puerto Rico.
