Local students will gather to discuss key world issues at the Hong Kong Model United Nations Conferences (HKMUN) beginning on Thursday at Hong Kong Science Park.
This year, 300 students from 26 schools will share their insights on the international agenda at the student-organised event.
The event will be packed with thought-provoking debate, inspiring students to discover more about important world issues and brush up on their public speaking skills.
"Besides engaging delegates in the General Assembly and Security Council committees, we have added two experimental non-UN committees, namely the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the Hong Kong Legislative Council (Legco)," says HKMUN Secretary-General, Vincent Gudenus. "We are excited about the addition of a simulated Legislative Council, allowing students the opportunity to learn about local politics."
Real-life Legco member Kenneth Leung Kai-cheong will also appear at the conference to share his own experiences of Hong Kong politics.
HKMUN runs from Thursday until Saturday
