Police have issued a letter of no objection for a march organised by the Civil Human Rights Front planned for December 8, a first since September.
The march will start at 3pm from Victoria Park in Causeway Bay and make its way to Chater Garden in Central. The march will be held the weekend before World Human Rights day and will mark a return to the regular and sometimes violent anti-government protests which have swept the city since June.
This will be the second major march that has received police approval since the uneasy peace before and after the district election. A previous march on December 1 was stopped and tear gas was fired by police to disperse crowds after officers had objects thrown at them by protesters.
The Front has been the organiser of three marches that have attracted at least one million people in the ongoing social movement. These occurred on June 6, June 12 and a rally turned march in defiance of police orders on August 18.
