Applications open for second phase of Hong Kong's "Be a Government Official for a Day" job shadowing programme 2019
The scheme allows secondary students to see the city's highest ranked officials at work
Applications opened today for the second phase of the “Be a Government Official for a Day” Programme 2019.
This stage of the programme, called the Chief Executive and Principal Officials Edition, will give Hong Kong’s secondary students a chance to shadow the city’s highest ranked officials including the Chief Executive, Principal Officials, Under Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments and see how they spend a day at work.
Applications for this phase will close on May 20, with the shadowing taking place in July to August. Application forms and submission details can be found here. Applicants must obtain a recommendation from their principal or a teacher.
The previous phase allowed students to shadow more junior government officials and was completed over the Easter holidays. The programme, organised by the Commission on Poverty headed by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, was launched last year.
