Sheeran apologised to fans on his Instagram story and promised their tickets would be refunded

It was a very disappointing and damp night for Ed Sheeran fans last night, who were sent home after organisers announced the singer's show was cancelled due to severe weather and lightning conditions.

Concertgoers who watched the first show complained about the poorly organised exit arrangement and unclear signage, but that was the least of fans' worries as they arrived at the concert venue yesterday and were handed free ponchos to protect them from the rain. After several announcements that the show would be delayed due to lightning, the concert was finally announced cancelled around 9.15pm.

For some, their dreams to see Sheeran perform live in Hong Kong had been shattered a second time. Last year, the artist had to cancel his show due to an arm injury.

The artist himself apologised to fans on his Instagram story and promised their tickets would be refunded. An announcement on the HK Ticketing website said that “[full] refunds will be automatically deposited to the same credit card account used for ticket purchase within 45 working days.”

Many local Sheerios took to social media to share their anger and disappointment at how the situation was handled, especially those who had arrived in the afternoon and waited in the rain for several hours. Here's what a few of them had to say:
