The college has been promoted to a university.

Hang Seng Management College was granted university status by the Executive Council on Tuesday, and will now be renamed The Hang Sang University of Hong Kong. The self-financing college was recommended to the council by the Education Bureau, based on an accreditation report on the school’s academic and vocational qualifications.

“The award of university status not only indicates the support and recognition we have received from the public, but also its expectations of us,” said the College’s President Simon Ho.

With the new status, the school has set its sights on becoming the top non-profit private university in the region. The college, formerly known as Hang Seng School of Commerce, was established in 1980.
