Heartbeat 2014: Building relationships through stories

VoluntEARS not only rewarding for low-income families, but also for its organisers

A storytelling session was held in December by Disney “VoluntEARS”. The programme is held every month for children from low-income families. Volunteers from Hong Kong Disneyland told the children Disney stories and sang and danced for them. The kids also made Mickey Mouse decorations for their parents. The event was organised by Disney Ambassadors Arthur Lau and Sara Hui.

Both Arthur and Sara talked about what an honour it is to “represent Hong Kong Disneyland and [its] 7,000 cast members”. The aim of the storytelling session, their signature programme, is to both tell stories and teach parents how to tell stories, while also helping parents build better relationships with their children.
