If you were lucky enough to be born in the Year of the Pig, then you’re in excellent company. Check out these 15 celebrities born in the Year of the Pig who’ve worked their trotters off to achieve global success.  

Celine Tam 

Local singing sensation Celine Tam wowed the judges on season 12 of America’s Got Talent with her rendition of Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On. Born on November 22, 2007, the starlet was just 10 years old when she entered the competition in 2017. Since then, Celine has found success on another  TV talent show, winning TV Asahi’s singing contest in Japan last year.

Dua Lipa
Born on August 22, 1995, British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa kick-started her own music career at just 14 years old by posting covers on YouTube. But things really took off with the release of her hit single New Rules, and self-titled debut album, in 2017.


Timothee Chalamet
Born on December 27, 1995, American actor and international heartthrob Timothee Chalamet is best known for his turn as 17-year-old Elio Perlman in the coming-of-age film, Call Me By Your Name – a role that earned Chalamet an Oscar nomination  for Best Actor. Now there’s a Pig worth squealing over.

As a supermodel, one of Taylor Swift’s  besties and the descendant of a Palestinian prince, 23-year-old Hadid is a true power Pig. Born on April 23, 1995, Hadid’s modelling career began at the tender age of two. While most of us are still learning the alphabet at that age, baby Hadid was already sporting haute couture as she strutted (or should that be trotted?) down the runway.


Troye Sivan
Australian singer and actor Troye Sivan first sprang to fame after playing Logan’s mini-me in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He has since released two studio albums, and collaborated with the likes of Ariana Grande. He currently has more than 9.9 million followers on Instagram, and 6.7 million on YouTube.


Kim Taehyung 
Known to his hordes of adoring fans as “V”, Taehyung is one-seventh of Korean mega-boy band BTS, who are ranked number one on Forbes’ Korea Power Celebrity list. The talented performer, who was born on December 30, 1995, has also dabbled in acting, making his debut in Korean TV series Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth in 2016.

Melissa “Missy” Franklin

Pigs may not be able to fly, but they sure can swim. Champion swimmer Franklin, who was born on May 10, 1995, is a five-time Olympic gold medallist, and the current world record holder in the 200-metre backstroke. She recently retired from the sport to focus on education, and is currently studying psychology at the University of California in the US.


Bethany Mota 
Another 90s Pig (born on November 7, 1995), YouTube vlogger Mota has more than 10 million followers, thanks to her monthly vlogs and haul videos. Her videos in which she shares style tips and tutorials have become so popular that Mota now has her own fashion line. Talk about girl (and Pig) power!


Chrissy Costanza
Clearly, 1995 was a great year for pigs. Costanza, who was born on August 23 of that year, is lead vocalist of pop-rock band Against the Current. The band has found huge success through online platforms like YouTube, where as well as sharing their own music, they post videos of covers and collaborations with other artists.

Perhaps better known by his online persona Behzinga, Payne is a member of Sideman, a group of some of Britain’s most popular YouTubers. Payne’s fans tune in each week to see his uncontrollable giggles and dramatic reaction videos. He was born on June 20, 1995.


Nick Robinson
Remember the teen from Jurassic World? The child star, who was born on March 22, 1995, is continuing to forge a successful career in acting. You might have seen Robinson take on the lead role in last year’s hit coming-of-age romcom Love, Simon


Dalai Lama
Born on July 6, 1935, the Dalai Lama is a Pig of real prestige. The Tibetan leader was forced to flee his home six decades ago and begin an indefinite exile in India. He has since given countless speeches all around the world, spreading his message of peace and compassion. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.

Clinton has made her mark as a US First Lady, a secretary of state, and as the first female presidential candidate nominated by a major party in US history. She is also a powerful advocate for women’s rights. She was born on October 26, 1947.


Julie Andrews
Our favourite singing nun-turned-governess, Queen of Genovia and the original Mary Poppins just so happens to be a graceful Piggy. She was born on October 1, 1935. Having spent more than seven decades in the spotlight, Andrews has won almost of all the major film awards going, including an Oscar for Best Actress in 1965.


Emily Blunt 
Who would’ve guessed that both the old and new Mary Poppinses were born in the Year of the Pig? British actor Blunt, who has taken on the role made famous by Andrews, was born on February 23, 1983. Let’s hope that coincidence means 2019 will be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious  year for all of us.
