ROYP: From books to beats – inspiring words our readers take comfort in

Each week, we ask Young Post readers to share a little bit about themselves along with a quote that helps them get through life

Hello! I’m a 16-year-old King George V School student who can best be described as a moderately confused whale. I’m a keen photographer, history lover and self-proclaimed nerd. I love debating anything from the meaning of life to whether or not pineapples belong on pizza (they do) and you can find me coercing my friends into modelling for my photos, singing (or rather, screeching) along to the latest Broadway musicals or burying my nose in a book.

Most inspiring quote:

“Wow! Hey! What’s this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like … ow … ound … round … ground! That’s it! That’s a good name – ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?”

– the sperm whale in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, while hurtling towards the ground from several miles above an alien planet

You never know what life is going to throw your way until it hits you… or rather, you hit it. Regardless, you should do your best to come to terms with it because curiosity and the joy of discovery are fuel for our greatest endeavours. Never be afraid to admit that you have no idea what is going on – and if all else fails, try to make some friends.

ROYP: From Brave New World to the Bible - inspiring words our readers take comfort in

Hi! I’m a 14-year-old book hugger. If you take my phone away, I’ll probably be fine, but if you take my books I’ll probably come after you with a pitchfork. You can take the book away from a bookworm, but you can’t take the bookworm away from the book.

Most inspiring quote:

“You need to grow from your mistakes, not let your mistakes grow.”

– Chris Colfer

This is one of my favourite quotes, not just because it’s from one of my favourite books, but also because it’s a pretty accurate representation of my to-do list. Every time I make a mistake, I need to remind myself to correct what I’ve done, instead of just leaving it.

ROYP: The inspiring words that motivate our readers to achieve great things

I am Vidushi, a 16-year-old high school student whose passions consist of music, photography, travel and makeup. I am currently focusing on my photography skills and using them to promote my mother’s home bakery on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

Most inspiring quote:

“Music is life. That’s why our hearts have beats.”

This quote reminds me that music is always going to be a part of me and I will never be able to separate myself from it. The way words are phrased and intertwined with beautiful melodies just connects with me and lets me experience different emotions on a level that’s so foreign to me.

ROYP: inspiring words that give our readers that little extra push they need

Hi there, I am Sylvia. I am a girl who loves travelling around and also eating around. Exploring something new always gets me excited.

Most inspiring quote:

“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”

– Forrest Gump

This quote gives me inspiration and motivation because life always comes with challenges and surprises.
