Where would you want to go for Christmas?

I’d like to spend my Christmas holiday in Australia. Because Australia is in the southern hemisphere, it is summer during Christmas. Imagine singing along to Christmas songs like Let it Snow in the hot weather. I think that would be very funny.

I think I’d like to stay in Hong Kong where all my friends and family are. Christmas is all about spending time with loved ones and showing them you care. It would be meaningless if I travelled overseas without them.

I’d choose New York. The weather would be a lot cooler there. It might even be snowing, which never happens here in Hong Kong. I think I would have the best Christmas of my life there. I hope I can go with my family when I’m older.

I’d choose to go to Kenya, where the weather is a lot hotter than in Hong Kong. It would be so cool to be able to celebrate Christmas with a bunch of wild animals like lions and giraffes during a safari.

I’d like to go to Harbin. Harbin is the capital of China’s northernmost province, and it is very cold there during winter. I’d like to go there because I’ve never seen snow. I heard it snows there almost every day during the Christmas season, and there are beautiful ice sculptures to look at. This is why people call Harbin the “City of Ice”.

Bethlehem. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, so what better place to go than the place he was born. It would be nice to be able to spend Christmas in such a holy place, and attend mass on Christmas Eve.

South Korea. I really like it there because there are a lot of cool places to visit, and a lot of shopping malls. Korea is not far from Hong Kong, so I wouldn’t have to waste too much time sitting on a plane. It also snows in Korea during Christmas, so I could go to a ski resort and enjoy the slopes with my family.

I’d love to travel to Canada as I’ve never been there. What’s more, one of my best friends lives there. I’ve heard that there are many scenic spots that are worth a visit. There must be a lot to see because Canada is a very large country.

I’d choose the Netherlands because I’ve always wanted to see a windmill. Some of my relatives live there, so I could get a free guided tour around the country. I’m also interested in trying the food because I saw a TV show about Dutch food and it looked delicious. I’d like to taste the local dishes and learn how to cook them.

Tsang Kin-chi, 12, Immaculate Heart of Mary College

I’d go to Finland because then I could meet Santa Claus. There is a village where he is said to live, and you can even take a look at his office. I would also be able to visit a Finnish Christmas market, where I could try all sorts of delicious traditional Finnish foods and buy gifts for my friends. Finland is also one of the best places to see the northern lights, which is one of the things on my bucket list.
