If I could change my birthday to any day of the year, I’d choose March 20, because that day is the International Day of Happiness. If my birthday were on that day, it would remind me to enjoy my day and live a happy life.

I would choose any day in August. This is because my family goes on a trip every August, so I would be able to celebrate my birthday in many different places.

I’d like to change my birthday to August 7. That is the debut day of my favourite K-pop band Wanna One and the start of their rise to fame. It is the happiest day of my life, and an important one for them, too.

I would change my birthday to July 15 because it falls during the summer holiday. That way I could enjoy my birthday cake without worrying about any homework, tests or exams. I’d also be able to play video games and watch YouTube until late as I wouldn’t have to wake up early for school the next day. If my birthday was really on July 15 I would be so happy.

If I could change my birthday I want it to be on March 14. That’s Pi Day, which celebrates the mathematical constant. I love maths so I think this would be a great day to have my birthday on. I could even use Pi to help me calculate the area of my cake! How special is that?

How would you describe your dream house?

I’d definitely change it to Mother’s Day. Birthdays should not only be about the person who was born on the day, but also the person who gave birth on that day. We always ask for gifts on our birthday and often forget to thank our mothers for giving us life. Having my birthday on Mother’s Day would remind me to do something for my mom too on that day.

Ocean Tsui, 16, Fung Kai No. 1 Secondary School

Unfortunately for me, my birthday falls near the middle of February which is way too close to Chinese New Year for my liking. This gets me cheated out of getting birthday gifts as no matter how much I plead with the people I know, the only gifts I always get are red packets. My dream birthday date would be July 13 since this usually marks the beginning of the summer vacation. This way, eveyone I invite can come to my party. And I’d also have plenty of time in the summer holiday to enjoy my birthday presents!

Abdul Malik Syed Ahamed, 14, Maryknoll Fathers’ School

I’d pick March 25, which is also my mother’s birthday. If our birthdays were on the same day, we could celebrate together and have a shared party. I think it would make the day more meaningful for the both of us. We might even be interviewed by media, because not many kids have the same birthday as their parent. That would be cool!

Which shop would you shop for free at?

Definitely the first of January! Because I was born on December 30, I would always just get Christmas presents and no birthday presents. I think if I changed my birthday to January 1, I would get a separate birthday present. I also think entering a new year is such an exciting event and it would be a holiday too, so I wouldn’t have to go to school on my birthday!

Teresa Kwok, 14, South Island School

I’d like my birthday to be on April 23. This day is William Shakespeare’s birthday and also World Book Day. Since my favourite hobby is reading, I think it would be perfect for my birthday to be on this day. It could also make it easier for me to convince my parents to buy me some new books on that day!
