Sarah is ready for a day out at the beach with her friends.

The summer holidays are in full swing, which means we’re on the hunt for the perfect outfit to stay comfortable in at the beach, without missing a single fashion beat. This week, model Sarah Khursigara rocks a beach glam look inspired by Finding Nemo – the heart-warming tale of a fish who swims across the ocean to find his son.

Sarah’s white strapless bandeau top and blue striped shorts combo is perfect for the beach.

But to take your look one step further, don’t be afraid to accessorise.

Sarah’s outfit has been jazzed up with a vibrant ocean-blue kimono and a long, chunky necklace that really makes a statement. White sandals complement the beach aesthetic and complete the look.

Hair

The secret to perfecting a beach look is to get the hair right first.

Our model Sarah is #blessed with gorgeous, thick curls, so her hair didn’t need much styling; but the “I woke up like this” aesthetic is very easy to achieve, even if you don’t have a natural wave.

Braid small sections of your hair and secure the end with a hair tie. Once all sections are braided, run over the braids with a pair of hair straighteners. Clamp down for a few seconds before releasing and moving down the braid. (Tip: make sure you use lots of heat protecting spray before you do this). Leave your hair to cool, before letting the braids loose. Instant texture!

You could even go heat-free, and sleep with your braids overnight. By morning, you’ll have luscious, mermaid locks, perfect for a day at the beach. For even more texture, spray some dry-shampoo in your hair, and give it a quick tousle.

If you have shorter hair, hair wax, or some sea-salt spray works well. Apply a generous amount of either product to your hair, then use a brush and a hair-dryer to tease hair and add texture. Once you’ve got the look you want, apply hairspray to keep your hair in place.

Make up

Luckily, a Nemo-themed look offers a great colour palette for a gold and blue sunset look that fits right in at the beach. The bright hues will make your eye pop, but there is a risk of going overboard, so remember that for this look, less is more and always blend.

Start by working a brown or orange eyeshadow into the crease of your eyelids with a small fluffy brush. Then, using your finger, press on a soft shimmery gold eyeshadow on the centre of your lids, and then blend it evenly across your lid and into the orange or brown so there are no harsh lines.

Finally, apply a black eyeliner pencil along your upper lash line, and smudge it slightly for a casual vibe. A bright blue eyeliner on the lower waterline adds a punch. Finish off the look with a peach blush and a reef-inspired coral lip gloss.
