A new animated superhero show starring comic book legend Stan Lee might be taking flight. The show, aptly titled Stan Lee's Mighty 7, is based on a comic book series created by Lee, and a pilot episode has been picked up by the Hub Network.
While driving through the desert, Stan (yes, he's a character!) witnesses the crash landing of an alien space ship transporting prisoners awaiting trial. Stan offers to help the alien group fit in on Earth, and work together - as long as they sign a deal to let him create a comic book series based upon their earthly exploits.
It isn't long before one of the prisoners, Lazor Lord, uncovers an alien invasion plot by the evil Lizard Men from the planet Taegon. As Earth faces an alien invasion, the group comes together and puts aside its differences to fight the Taegon enemy.
Meanwhile, Stan finally manages to get them to sign contracts for a new comic book called Stan Lee's Mighty 7 in exchange for his help in sheltering them on Earth.
So far, only a 60-minute pilot episode has been made. But hopefully a full 26-episode series will follow - fingers crossed an anime channel in Hong Kong picks it up. If not, the pilot episode will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 15.
