Going to Clockenflap next month? From headliners to indie artists, here are the performers to look out for
With just under three weeks to go until the crowds descend on Central Harbourfront, Clockenflap Festival has released the final line-up for this year’s event, and it’s one of the most exciting to date. Many of Hong Kong’s best-known indie performers will be taking to the stage, alongside big international acts. Here’s who you can’t afford to miss.
Wolf Alice
Hot on the heels of their Mercury Prize win in September for their second album Visions Of A Life, the London-based rockers are finally starting to get recognition for their sound. This is going to be one beast of a gig!
D.A.N.
This Japanese trio are going to get the party started on Saturday. The Tokyo-based dance group have found their sound by fusing African music with techno and guarantee a high-energy show.
Amadou & Mariam
This husband and wife duo from Mali gained global exposure thanks to an incredible live performance on British TV show Later with Jools Holland. The couple, who are both blind, went on to receive a Grammy nomination, and are considered masters of their instruments. They perform on Saturday.
Anpu
Returning to the Clockenflap stage after four years, the Taiwanese indie-pop songwriter remains one of the most prominent musicians in the Asian music industry.
Cifika
The South Korean electro-pop artist broke out of the K-pop bubble and into the global market earlier this year with her biggest tour to date in the US. Merging lo-fi electronic soundscapes and deep R’n’B grooves, Cifika is bound to blow us all away.

Caribou
For any fans of psychedelic electronica, this is going to be an unmissable set. This won’t be the first time Canadian musician Dan Snaith sets foot in Hong Kong: he performed at Grappa’s Cellar back in 2010, so this is set to be a triumphant return for him.
Khalid
After bursting onto the music stage in 2016 with his debut American Teen, the then-18-year-old became world famous almost overnight. This popular R’n’B artist – who has won Billboard and MTV Awards, and received multiple Grammy nods – will be the final, big act on Sunday night.
Interpol
The New York-based gloom-rockers have been touring almost non-stop since their debut Turn On The Bright Lights in 2002. Their most recent album, Marauder, was recorded live to tape – so expect plenty of energy on Friday night as the headliners kick off the festival in style.
David Byrne
The Saturday night headliner, and former Talking Heads frontman, is considered one of those most innovative and inspiring songwritersof the past 40 years. He has also proved a consistently mind-blowing performer. We recommend watching his live film Stop Making Sense online before you go, so you can be at least a little bit prepared for what is sure to be one truly unforgettable night.
