Asyndeton played songs from their debut EP The Other Side of My Mind and wowed the judges.

Belinda Howard: All the bands playing their own original stuff [as opposed to covers] played it with so much more heart. Catch 22 had loads of potential. They’re quite young and need lots of encouragement and more gigs.

It’s great to see all the schools mixing up, we encourage that. I also like that there was a good mix of boys and girls in these three bands.

These bands just keep getting better: Asyndeton, Code Red. I love Mikayla [Boonstra] from Code Red and the guys from Asyndeton – I’ve known them all for so long and have seen huge progress. I remember when they first started, and how confident they are now.

Ricky Cumes: I’d have to agree with Belinda. I really like Code Red and have seen them develop. Mikayla really works the crowd – she’s so confident up there. And it’s nice to see Ydis [Lopez] on drums keeping the whole band together. They gel well as a band and that shows. They really look like they’re having fun. And Asyndeton, they’re just a quality band. It’s not often that you get a band writing original music that people can really get behind and enjoy.
