Elton John's Wonderful Crazy Night shows no sign of this party stopping [Review]
Put on your party hats and get ready to groove to Elton John's latest studio album, Wonderful Crazy Night. The music is fun and jazzy; the lyrics straightforward and intimate. It's everything you'd expect it to be - good old classic piano rock with John's iconic vocals.
The title track opens the record on a high, recalling the energy of John's '70s classic Crocodile Rock. As John hammers the keys, Bernie Taupin's lyrics bring to life simple moments from meeting his love - a chill on the back of the neck, a whiff of roast chicken from the grill.
The crooner is known for his cache of hearty love ballads, and adds a few more with the catchy In The Name Of You, A Good Heart, Tambourine and The Open Chord. Other highlights include the jaunty Blue Wonderful and I've Got 2 Wings, a wholesome country tribute to preacher and guitarist Elder Utah Smith.
Wonderful Crazy Night is John's 32nd album, but his classic sound still feels like a refreshing treat.
