It’s cool coming up with an individual costume that will make you stand out from the pack, but sometimes you just want to be part of that pack! Here are nine of the best group costume ideas that will get everyone else wishing they’d come to the party with a crew.

1. Nintendo

It’s-a-me! Mario! Nintendo has brought us such a host of beloved characters over the years. You could even dress up as a Nintendo console - after all, the Switch has proven hella popular this year - if you’re feeling particularly creative!

DIY: Denim overalls, fake moustaches, red and green shirts for Mario and Luigi (or Wario and Waluigi); a pink dress and blonde wig for Princess Peach; a gorilla mask for Donkey Kong; a red and white hat for Toad.

Dress up as one of the many characters or as the console itself! Your call!

2. Suicide Squad

Hey Puddin’! This ragtag team of villains on parole are sure to an imposing presence on the streets. The range of colors and accessories these guys sport are bound to make them a fun halloween project.

DIY: Multicolored wigs, lots of make-up (especially white stage make-up), a mutant crocodile, boomerang, a baseball bat.

3. The Avengers

Avengers Assemble! The Avengers have faced many trials over the years on the big screen, but that doesn’t mean if you get your friends together to form a force, you’ll encounter Thanos!

DIY: toy shield, plastic hammer, green theatre makeup, blonde wig, red wig, oversized tinted glasses, bow and arrow, eye patches catsuit, impossible muscles (or padded T-shirt, we’re not all Chris Hemsworth, you know), and capes.

4. Scooby Doo Gang and Monsters

I would have gotten away with it, if it weren’t for those meddling kids! Mystery Inc. gets especially busy around Halloween time! You may think that’s your maths class buddy in that ghost mask, but you can’t trust anyone. Put those detective skills to use!

DIY: a purple dress, an orange dress, a white shirt, jeans a green shirt and a big appetite. Two friendly dogs, preferable wearing Scooby Doo collars!

5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Turtle Power! This is a great choice for a squad of four. (You c add Splinter, April, Shredder and Krang.) Plus, pizza!

DIY: Four green shirts; blue, orange, red and purple bandanas, pizza.

6. Pokémon

Gotta catch them all! With over 800 of these critters to choose from, the combinations you can pull off with this Halloween theme are pretty much endless. An added challenge would be to create costumes based on Pokemon evolutions - or be super lazy and dress up as Pokemon trainers instead!

DIY: Ears, tails, coloured clothes, tiny red and white balls that you can hide in. Or jeans, T-shirt, baseball caps, fingerless gloves.

Always a cute option.

7. Seven Dwarfs

Hi Ho! Hi Ho! These lovable seven are easy to make believable. Got a friend who sneezes a lot? Perfect. Got a joyous outlook on life? It’s easy to guess which dwarf you are!

DIY: Big belts, small people, floppy hats, long beards - not you Dopey!

8. Sims Characters

Sul sul! Who doesn’t love playing Sims! All you need is a green, yellow or red diamond head piece and a talent for speaking gibberish!

DIY: Simlish dictionary

9. Toy Story

You got a friend in me! Woody, Buzz and the gang are iconic Pixar characters. If you can’t imitate the collection of lovable toys, try to make up your own!

DIY: Cowboy hat, space suit, pig mask, dinosaur tail, and a potato.
