Inspired by International Literacy Day on Saturday, September 8 but not sure what to read? The goal of this day, first started on October 26, 1966, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), was to remind the international community of the importance of literacy, and the need to help build more literate societies around the world.
This year, the theme was "Literacy and skills development". We may take the ability to read for granted, but for many people, illiteracy is a reality, and it keeps millions of people from a better quality of life.
