Beware the Batman (animated series)

Batman returns to the small screen in a new computer-generated animated show called Beware the Batman. The show is the replacement for the Cartoon Network's Batman show The Brave and the Bold.

The new series takes place during the early years of Batman, when he had yet to establish a rapport with police, when the future police commissioner, Jim Gordon, was still only a lowly lieutenant. There are a few other tweaks in the series, too. Batman's butler, Alfred, is portrayed more as a heavyset thug from London's tough East End with a shadowy past connected to MI6.

A new character, Tatsu Yamashiro, a martial arts expert with a Katana sword, is also introduced to the "Bat family" after Alfred breaks his leg and feels billionaire businessman Bruce Wayne needs a bodyguard.

The many villains that will plague Batman in this new series include Anarky, Magpie, Ra's al Ghul, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Humpty Dumpty. Criminal mastermind Anarky is slated to be the main adversary for Batman.

The show has computer-generated imagery, but fans will be delighted to see the return of the earlier artistic style that was the hallmark of the 1992 series.

Bat-fans should keep an eye out for it on the Toonami Asia channel.
