Gomez comes into her own

Gomez comes into her own

Known for her sweetness and for being Justin Bieber's on-again, off-again girlfriend, Selena Gomez is now going solo and has released her debut album, Stars Dance.

It features 15 new tracks and is perfect for all-night dancing all summer long.

The title track features a dramatic melody backed by dubstep and electronic effects. The single shows Gomez's confidence as she belts out: "I can make the stars dance if you want me to" in a dreamy voice.

Come & Get It, with a Bollywood touch, has been praised by critics for its creativity.

The original version of Love Will Remember surprised fans with its opening - a voicemail message from someone sounding like Bieber. It's nowhere to be heard in the album version. But with the lines "And all the plans we had/ What happened to that?", Gomez clearly sings about something she can't put down.

Stars Dance features many light, breezy and danceable tracks, just as in Gomez's collaborative albums. But now she has claimed a style of her own.
