You have probably heard these news terms being discussed in the papers or on TV. This is how to use them in English:

1. 公帑 - public money

An independent committee will look at claims Timothy Tong Hin-ming, the former head of the ICAC, spent large sums of public money entertaining mainland officials.

2. 修正 - amendments

Four radical lawmakers have filed more than 700 amendments to the budget bill in protest at its omission of a universal pension scheme.

3. 法定最低人數 - quorum

Under Legco rules, at least half of the 70 lawmakers must be present for a meeting to continue. The session must stop if this quorum is not met within 15 minutes of a summons.

4. 通緝 - wanted

Police said Occupy Central activist Melody Chan Yuk-fung was listed as a wanted person after multiple failed attempts to contact her to assist with investigations.

5. 制裁 - sanctions

Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou will not rule out imposing sanctions on Manila. There has been outrage in Taiwan after the shooting of a fisherman by Philippine forces.
