Strong and pure performance

Demi Lovato made a stunning comeback from a rough patch, with a judging position on The X Factor, and now, her fourth studio album. No longer a Disney princess but a powerful pop leader, her new release is full of distinct rhythms and a broad range of instruments, stressing the singer's dynamic character.

Opener Heart Attack best demonstrates Lovato's vocal range. Her feelings are nicely knitted in this diverse, emotion-provoking song. Meanwhile, Neon Lights is an energetic number with poetic lyrics: "You'll be coming on with me tonight / We'll be burning up like neon lights".

The album's theme of love carries a message of staying genuine in relationships. There's also an element of feminism, especially in closer, Warrior - a sequel to the hit single Skyscraper, from her last album: "Now I've got thicker skin / I'm a warrior / I'm stronger than I've been".

Demi is Lovato's boldest album to date. Despite some mild profanity, she leaves a positive image in listeners' hearts.
