Take the anti-food-waste pledge

Take the anti-food-waste pledge

You may not have time to get involved with our “Waste Not, Want Not” project, but we’re sure that doesn’t mean you don’t care about the issues involved.

Food waste is a massive problem around the world, not least in Hong Kong – more than 3,500 tonnes of food waste are produced in our city every day. We want you to take this small step to make a difference: promise to waste less food. That’s all. Whether that’s by asking for smaller portions when you eat out, or making sure that you use up leftovers from home-cooked meals.

We want to inspire you on this mission. As well as publishing stories about the workshops we’re running for the “Waste Not, Want Not” project, so that you all learn about the efforts being made to ease the problem, we’re starting our Green Ribbon campaign asking all readers to waste less food.

Download your very own green ribbon HERE. Cut it out, fold along the white line and pin it on to show your support. Ask your friends and classmates to join in, too. Take photos of yourselves wearing the ribbons and e-mail them to youngpost.web@gmail.com, along with your name and school. We’d also love you to sign the pledge below to reduce your food waste and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Together we can make a difference.
