Super-powered teen skateboarders and samurai sword-wielding high schoolers battle it out in a supernatural tour de force through Tokyo in K, a new anime show on the Animax channel.

The show is set in a futuristic alternate universe where Japan decided long ago to isolate itself from the rest of the world, and became an exclusive self-sustaining advanced society. Amid the gleaming skyscrapers of Tokyo, a war among Japan's seven lords - warriors with highly destructive special powers - is about to break out.

The protagonists are a grey-haired high school student named Isana Yashiro; his pony-tailed, highly skilled best friend and bodyguard Yatogami Kurou; and a mysterious shape-shifting girl, Neko. They become embroiled in the explosive conflict that is about to unfold.

K is an original anime project (it's not based on any pre-existing manga) by the creators of such anime hits as Toradora!, Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father! and Bodacious Space Pirates. The show is created by the GoRA Project group (which includes Gou Nakanishi, the producer of popular series like Fafner and Asura Cryin') in collaboration with anime studio GoHands (Mardock Scramble, Seitokai Yakuindomo).

K premiered on October 5 on Animax (Now TV Ch 511, HK Broadband Network Ch 300, and CABLE TV Ch 25) with new episodes airing on Fridays at 12.30am. If you haven't started watching it, you're missing some amazing fantasy action that will blow you away.
