Script: Listening Exercise 127

Speaker 1: Do you know a teenager who is an outstanding sportsperson? Have you got a friend who’s a budding Guo Jingjing, Lin Dan or Yao Ming? Toast TV launched their 2011 Teen Sports Personality of the Year a week ago, and now it’s up to you to nominate those sports stars you know.

Speaker 2: What is holding you back? Nothing. All you have to do is send in nominations. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Toast Sports TV Teen Personality of the Year award and we are expecting a record number of nominations. Last year more than nine and a half thousand teens were nominated for the award. The winner of the 2011 award will be announced at a lavish ceremony in the first week of February, 2012.

Speaker 1: The Toast TV Teen Sports Personality is presented to the outstanding young sports person of the year, who was aged between thirteen and eighteen on January 1st, 2011. The panel of judges is made up of directors of Toast TV and local sports personalities. They will draw up an initial shortlist of twelve names, and then meet again to select a final three. These teens will be invited to attend the award ceremony in a local hotel along with their families. The winning teen will be announced during this event. The chairman of Toast TV will make the announcement.

Speaker 2: You can download an application form from the Toast TV website. Once you have filled in the form, make sure that it is signed by an adult if you are under sixteen. You can send your completed form to Toast TV by e-mail or by post. The final date for the receipt of nominations is Saturday December 31st, 2011.

Speaker 1: So what are you waiting for? Get a nomination form as soon as you can and fill it in. You are certain to know a teenager who is good at sport. He or she could be the Toast TV Teen Sports Personality of the Year. And finally, good luck to all the teens who are nominated!
