Heaven, Los Lonely Boys' debut song that reached No 1 on the Billboard chart, perfectly describes the change that goes on when a holiday brain has to turn back into a school brain. With school starting again, I realise that it is hard to readjust from enjoying free time to ploughing through work. The lyrics - "Just keep on giving. How far is heaven?" - sum it all up.

"All my agony fades away, when you hold me in your embrace ... You've opened the door now, don't let it close," sings Within Temptation in All I Need. The music and lyrics are perfect and soul-stirring - especially right now. Recently, I've found that one person who can take away all my sadness, but I still have doubts. Like the lyrics "You've opened the door now, don't let it close", I hope this person won't hurt me.

Never Say Never sung by Justin Bieber describes my life right now. It motivates me to push forward. Even though I constantly face obstacles - like my endless list of upcoming tests and assignments - I believe I will be able to overcome any challenges if I tell myself to never say never.

Giselle Chan Cheuk-ying, 16, Pui Ching Middle School

Drama Queen (That Girl) by Lindsay Lohan can best describe my life right now. Recently, I joined the students' union and got elected as the chairwoman of my class. It was a big change for me because I used to be timid. However, "believing in myself", I stopped doubting my abilities. As stated in the lyrics, "you'll look back and you won't believe that girl was me".

Maintenant Je Sais (Now I Understand) by Jean Gabin speaks of his gradual realisation over time that nothing in life is certain. However, as much as he aspires to be older and wiser, more clever and mature, he concludes that there will always be more to discover. As I grow older and (hopefully!) wiser, I begin developing similar sentiments.

It's All Kinds of Everything, by Dana. After listening to this song, I think of my friend who went to England a few weeks ago to study. After she left, I have a lonely school life. Every time I see our photos and read my diary, I always think of the days we worked together, played together and even cried together.

Janet Choi Ho-ching, 15, Sai Kung Sung Tsun Catholic School ( Secondary Section)

I like the song Overprotected by Britney Spears. The lyrics "I need to make mistakes just to learn who I am" and "What am I to do with my life" have inspired me. I work hard for the HKDSE exam, but I get confused sometimes. Still, I know I have to learn from my mistakes in order to grow up.

Jay Lee Seung-jae, 13, Hong Kong International School

The song Bad Day by Daniel Powter describes my life the best. This is because the song says that even if something bad happens, we should push forward. We should not linger in the past no matter how bad the situation is. This is just like my life because I always try to move forward instead of dwelling on the past.
