Another comic book action hero comes to "semi" life in the newly released DVD Marvel Knights: Spider-Woman Agent of S.W.O.R.D.

The story takes place not long after the events of the Secret Invasion storyline and we find a beleaguered Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman, wondering what to do with herself. She is approached by Abigail Brand of S.W.O.R.D, a counter-terrorism agency, whose mission statement is to kill all evil aliens. Brand offers Jessica a job to find and kill aliens and get paid a lot, too.

With nothing else on the horizon, Jessica accepts the offer. But it turns out there's much more to the job than she bargained for ...

Spider-Woman is a 2009-2010 comic book limited series written by Brian Michael Bendis, drawn by Alex Maleev and published by Marvel Comics. The animations on this DVD make up the complete collection of semi-animated web episodes based upon the comic.

Unfortunately I can't recommend this DVD, which was by far the worst semi-animated comic book series I've ever seen - and I've seen a lot. The series suffers from a very dull storyline, one that is so slow-paced that I actually fell asleep watching it. Jessica's narration, voiced by Nicolette Reed, is so monotonous that you soon wish she would just shut up.

Diehard fans of Marvel comics can find Spider-Woman Agent of S.W.O.R.D. at HMV for HK$130.
