Tell us about your culture
I'm a Nepali. Nepal is a land-locked Asian country located near China and India.
Religion
In my country, there are many types of belief.
The majority of people are Hindu. A minority of them are Buddhists; there are very few Christians or Muslims.
National food
Nepalese food is very similar to Indian and Tibetan food. Momo is a very popular dish in Nepal. It is a dumpling filled with spring onions, garlic and onion. It is usually served with spicy tomato sauce. Yum.
Another popular dish is sukuti, a dry meat of buffalo or lamb. The texture is hard and the colour of the meat is black. It tastes delicious.
Special places
Lumbini, where the Lord Buddha was born. It is in the foothills of the Himalayas, and is a beautiful place. It is the location of the sacred Bodhi tree where Lord Buddha meditated. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world at 8,850 metres. It has beautiful landscapes.
Sport
Cricket and football are popular throughout the country. Traditional sports include kabadi, a game about holding your breath, and dandibiyo, which involves hitting a wooden pin with a stick.
Defining characteristic
Never Ending Peace And Love - our acronym, even though there's so much corruption, terrorism and poverty in Nepal. I think this is a beautiful acronym, something to live by. Sometimes you have to say these things to yourself to lift your spirits.
Famous person
Siddhartha Gautama, the Lord Buddha. His real name was Gautama Buddha, and he founded Buddhism. He lived a lavish life as he was a prince of a small kingdom in Lumbini. He became sad when he realised that ordinary people were suffering. He left his palace and went on a long journey in search of love and peace
