Super Mario fans, listen up: Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is opening Super Nintendo World THIS SUMMER, and it is set to be a dream come true for gamers who want to see their favourite Mario characters come to life in the real world.
Featuring many of the franchise's most iconic areas including Mushroom Kingdom and Bowser's Castle, park-goers will attempt to recover a golden mushroom stolen by Bowser Jr. as part of a series of mini-games.
They will be able to gather digital coins by playing mini-games with a wearable wrist band (call a "power up band") and a special app, and will be able to compete against other guests.
There are no details about what type of games there might be, but we hope we will be able to stomp on a Koopa, jump into a green pipe and get power-ups from floating Question Blocks in real life.
Another exciting announcement is that there will be a real Mario Kart ride at the new park. We can't wait to see if we can pick up some red shells and start hurling them at our fellow racers.
The expansion will also feature rides, shops and themed restaurants. The first expansion will be at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, but park operators plan to bring the Mario-themed mini-parks to Hollywood, Orlando and Singapore in the future.
Who's really excited to chomp down on some Super Mushrooms and experience all the fun of being inside a Mario game? While we're eagerly waiting for the park's official opening, check out the exclusive park theme song We are Born to Play by Swedish electronic music duo Galantis featuring Charli XCX below.
