Message from Roland T Chin asks why laser pointers are regarded as offensive weapons and why Keith Fong was subject to force during his arrest
Hong Kong Baptist University President Roland T Chin has sent an email questioning the arrest of Student Union President Keith Fong Chung-yin after he was arrested for the posession of 10 laser pointers on Tuesday. This email followed a Registration Day boycott by over 40 school clubs at HKBU due to what students believed was Chin's refusal to condemn Fong's arrest.
The email was sent shortly after Fong was released on Thursday evening. No charges were filed against him at the time, and the police said they would address the situation in more detail at their daily press conference at 4pm on Friday.
