These guys can't wait and neither can we.

We are still half a year away from the release of the highly-anticipated superhero super team-up Avengers: Infinity War, but the hype is already at fever pitch.

With the major players of all of Marvel’s various successful franchises looking to band together to fight off the ominous threat of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, what crucial info can we glean from the first official trailer?

Iron Man less of a man?

At 0:06 of the trailer, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is in a classic sad/pensive pose and his battle-worn hoodie appears to hint at the conclusion of a recent battle. He’s not in his Iron Man armour but if you peer closely at his left hand – it doesn’t look like it’s flesh and blood.

Has Stark upgraded his tech to the point where his armour is actually now part of him permanently or has his hand been destroyed and he’s now a bit more machine than man? We’re guessing the former, as he IS a self-proclaimed “genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist,” with “genius” hopefully taking top billing.

Vision: 95% less androidy

The last time we saw Vision (Paul Bettany), the android that’s a meld of J.A.R.V.I.S. and one of the Infinity Stones, you definitely wouldn’t mistake him as human, with a skin that was a royal shade of purple and grayish metallic skin armour.

Here in the trailer, he is looking very much like a normal human being (except for the glowing stone on his forehead). And it’s not much of a surprise anymore, with the romantic overtones in their scenes together already seen in Civil War, but he and Scarlet Witch clearly have a thing. Just kiss her already!

The bad guy brings it

We’ve known for a while that Thanos would come, but the Mad Titan sure does know how to make an entrance. Josh Brolin performed the motion capture and voice acting for the main villain, and his confident swagger shines through, as does his power as he seems to knock Iron Man out with just one punch in a scene.

And he didn’t come to the party alone. He’s backed by an army of four-armed reptilian humanoids that tower over even the 6-foot tall Black Panther, and these aliens don’t look like they come in peace.

The return of the king

Speaking of the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), the king of Wakanda looks to have a big role in this outing, as he not only joins the front lines himself but brings his army with him to repel the invaders.

Also seen among the ranks is the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who had entered cryogenic sleep voluntarily at the end of Civil War. He certainly doesn’t look sleepy here, and seems all ready to help out his pal…

Cap grows a beard and gets another shield

Our favourite supersoldier with old-world values is back, this time sporting a rugged full beard, a darker colour palette, and a world-weary yet determined gleam in his eye.

Captain America (Chris Evans) is unquestionably the heart and soul of the team, and also traditionally the Avengers’ leader. In the obligatory “charge towards the enemy together” scene near the end of the trailer, he is front and centre, and ready to sacrifice everything to save everyone else.

Cool tech, bro

The trailer also showcases some lovely new tech, in the form of the enhanced Spider-Man suit that we saw at the end of Homecoming. Sporting a metallic sheen while still remaining skintight to account for Peter Parker (Tom Holland) agile style of combat, this version 2.0 of the Spidey suit looks way cooler and more powerful.

Oh, and we see a glimpse of the new version of the Hulkbuster armour. Yup. Hulk. Buster. Armour. That can go toe-to-toe. With the Hulk. Awesome.

Guardians assemble…too?

And finally we have a trailer cameo by the goofy yet effective Guardians of the Galaxy team, including a teenage Groot and the lovably arrogant Starlord (Chris Pratt) still with that roguish grin on his face. Not sure whether you want to punch him or slap him, but you can’t argue with results. Having already saved the galaxy twice, they meet up with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and head to earth to help.

There we have it, the first official trailer of next year’s Avengers: Infinity War. We are all as excited as you are, and can’t wait for the next one!
