Television comedy Ugly Betty started out as a hilariously entertaining, charismatic and highly addictive show. But the story of a Plain Jane striving to succeed in the cruel fashion world takes a serious turn in the third season.

Betty Suarez (Emmy and Golden-Globe-winner America Ferrera,) is a caring, smart, and sartorially clueless young woman who, ironically, works at a fashion magazine. Her message to the world, especially her shallow boss Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), is that looks aren't everything.

This season sees the characters move away from syrupy romantic sub-plots and face some major personal issues. Betty moves out of her warm, cosy suburban home to the hectic city, starts an editor-training programme and falls in love.

Meanwhile, Daniel learns the importance of family, and settles down with his true love. Villainess Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa William) is on hand to make sure nothing goes too smoothly and keep him from gaining full control over his family business.

The stellar guest cast is definitely one of the flamboyant drama's highlights. As well as the multi-talented Williams and many runway stars, Lindsay Lohan appears as Betty's frenemy Kimmi, a typical mean girl, while indie musician Val Emmich is Betty's crush-next-door.

Bonus features include all the usual fare, plus the brilliant Mode After Hours, a short series about the wicked Amanda and Marc.
