Patrice Yip, a Year Eight student at FIS, is a happy ballerina.

She performed in The Nutcracker, which was staged last month at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. She played the role of Clarchen in the production by Hong Kong Ballet.

"I am so happy to get this role. I have been preparing for it for three years," Patrice (pictured) said.

Patrice took her first ballet lesson at the age of two, and may pursue the art as a career.

But she understands the importance of keeping her options open. "I have learned to balance studies with free time since I started at [FIS] in Year Seven. The teachers help me a lot and I am learning how to be a better person, not just how to study," she says.
