Everybody is excited as they look forward to the US presidential election which will be held on November 8. Apart from the excitement, it is also very important, because America is the one of the wealthiest and most powerful nations in the world.

The US president plays a crucial role because he or she could hold the key to the future of not only the US, but also the world. Right now the battle for the American presidency is between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

I worry that Trump – the Republican Party’s presidential nominee – could get America’s top job. Trump is a famous businessman, and he doesn’t seem to be concerned about helping the poor. He would only introduce policies that would make the rich richer.

What’s more, Trump has a terrible personality. His ideas are not well thought out, and he doesn’t know what he can do to make the government more effective.

I hope Clinton will win the election, because she already has experience working in government. She can come up with policies that would help the underprivileged, while making the US more powerful at the same time.

If Trump wants to be the US president, he should do something to help the poor so they will support him. There are so many Americans who have just enough money to live, and it is important to protect them. If Trump can do this, he may become the next US president.

From the Editor

Thank you for your letter, Ka-long. I think you will find many people who will agree with you on who should be US president. But even if Clinton wins, the big question will be whether or not Trump and his supporters will work with her.

Already he seems to be making excuses in case he doesn’t win. His fans seem to believe that the elections will not be free and fair, and they are quite passionate about their beliefs.

Clinton winning would not make everything perfect, but at least she seems to know what she’s doing.
